I’m Anna Leonhard. I teach middle school English Language Arts, English Language Development, and facilitate teacher training.
Over the past five years I’ve channeled a love for literacy, the city, and intercultural communities into classrooms from Atlanta to Denver. I’ve taught Kindergarten through 8th. grade, specializing in teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) and literacy for students with interrupted learning. My classroom in Denver is 99% students of color and 96% eligible for free/reduced lunch. I actively develop English Language Arts curriculum and English Language Development materials designed for my multicultural classrooms.
As a life-long learner myself, teacher education is in my blood. I facilitate professional development on topics such as: Literacy for English Language Learners, Parent Engagement, Identity and Privilege, Implicit Bias and Authentic Engagement, Differentiation for English Language Learners, and more.
I spent my childhood in Ghana, West Africa and call the greater Atlanta area my second home. Higher education and teaching led me to Chicago, Boston, and most recently---the sunshine of Denver, Colorado.
